Glossary (Administrators)
Last updated: May 30, 2024
Connected wallet balance: Your total balance, pulled from your admin’s connected (personal or multi-sig) wallet.
Escrow balance: Escrow is a secure smart contract that holds deposited tokens for safekeeping until vest conditions are met. Your escrow balance should have sufficient funds to meet upcoming payouts and ensure stakeholders receive their tokens on-time.
On-chain: On-chain transactions are transactions that occur on a blockchain that are reflected on the distributed, public ledger. On-chain transactions are those that have been validated or authenticated and lead to an update to the overall blockchain network.
Off-chain: Off-chain transactions refer to transfers that occur off of the blockchain, although they are often settled there after the fact. Off-chain transactions can be cheaper, faster, and more private than on-chain transactions.
Wallet address: A wallet address is represented as a string of numbers and letters, and is unique to a specific wallet. Also known as a public key, this address can be safely shared just like an email address. Ex: 0xOcEym6j2rq1y4v1Ss2zhaS
ENS: (Ethereum Name Service) assigns human-readable names like 'marcus.eth' to machine-readable identifiers such as Ethereum addresses and other blockchain network addresses.
Tokens withheld: The number of tokens withheld by the company to cover stakeholders’ tax.
Claimable tokens: The number of tokens claimable by the stakeholder after taxes are withheld.
Token plan: Token plans allow your stakeholders to receive tokens and have ownership in the protocol or network. Token plans can be in the form of token grants (a specific number of tokens) or token warrants (a right but not the obligation to purchase tokens at a future date at an agreed-upon exercise price).
Token grant: Tokens are released to the stakeholder after a vesting period passes.
Token warrant: Tokens are released to the stakeholder after exercising (purchasing) tokens at an agreed-upon exercise price.
Token quantity: Total tokens to be released to the stakeholder if vesting requirements are met.
Tax withholding: The percentage of tokens your company will withhold to cover taxes.
Calculate tax using: This price will be used for calculating the percentage of tokens to withhold for tax.
Price at vesting: The price of your token at the moment of vesting.
Average high-low price: The average of the highest price and lowest price of the token on the date of vesting. For example, a token with a high of $50.00 and a low of $40.00 results in an average high-low price of $45.00.
Fixed vesting: The same amount of tokens are vested periodically.
Weighted vesting: Tokens are vested using a custom schedule.
Cliff: The period of time that must pass before the release of the tokens starts.
Cliff duration: The period of time that must pass before tokens are released. After the cliff duration is over, vesting continues over the remaining period.
Cliff percentage: The percentage of tokens released to the stakeholder once the cliff duration has passed.
Token address: The identifying address of the token, also known as the "token contract address" or "token address". The token contract that manages the logic for the tokens includes the token symbol, total supply of tokens, and other token details.
Vesting contract address: A smart contract viewable on the blockchain that handles the vesting logic and rules for distribution.
